“As a part-time tutor at Taruna, I teach eurythmy.  In 1981 having completed my eurythmy training in Germany, I returned to the Southern Hemisphere and eventually New Zealand where I took up my career as a eurythmy teacher.  Prior to eurythmy I worked as a registered nurse in Australia, England and Germany.
Destiny led me to Taikura Rudolf Steiner School, Hastings.  There I worked with children ranging from Kindergarten to class 12 (3 to 18 yrs).  In 1992 I journeyed to Russia where for four years I worked mostly in the Eurythmy Academy and supported young eurythmists into teaching.
In 2001 I accepted the fulltime management position as principal of Taikura and held it for seven years.  Throughout the years I was grateful to maintain a balance to this work through regular eurythmy classes with children, sessions at Taruna and artistic work.
At the close of 2006 I stepped back from the school to take on the position of General Secretary for the Anthroposophical Society in New Zealand.  This year I will be tutoring more in Taruna.  My work will involve travel both overseas and throughout New Zealand.  I have the possibility to provide workshops on anthroposophy, eurythmy and education.”

Developmental Difficulties and Special Needs in perspective of Constitutional Types & School Readiness with Assessment Exercises

H
ong Kong Waldorf Early Childhood Education Teachers Training

3rd Semester – 3rd weekend workshop with Barbara Baldwin

October 15 & 16

"Special Needs" often refers to special needs within an educational context which includes but not limited to autism, ADHD, cerebral palsy, and epilepsy. Children with special needs may have mild learning disabilities or profound mental retardation; food allergies or terminal illness; developmental delays that catch up quickly or remain entrenched; occasional panic attacks or serious psychiatric problems.

School readiness, a term used frequently in the in pre-school and kindergarten setting, means that a child is ready to enter a social and educationally based environment. In other words, the child is ready to start the process of learning how to do things independently. This is an important subject for parents and teachers to know if their children are ripe for formal schooling. If otherwise, learning difficulties will surface which induce psychological problem.

Trainer: Barbara Baldwin

A qualified speech pathologist, Barbara studied speech and special education in Europe and came to Australia in 1981. Barbara has worked and lectured extensively across the globe including in Germany, Austria, Denmark, Czech Republic, Israel, UK, USA, Indonesia, Japan and Australia.

Barbara has two main areas of expertise: i) education – with particular focus on the diverse spread of learning styles, needs, skills and difficulties presented in the contemporary classroom environment; ii) speech, voice and communication, with a focus on the Voice of Women and the use of voice in the education of children (both teachers and parents). She is a specialist on many aspects of voice: voice projection, voice protection and voice correction. Barbara also coaches leaders at all levels of language competence to the highest level of excellence in accent reduction, idiomatic use of English, confidence in public speaking, business language and personal presentation.

Waldorf Children Handcraft - Your Child's Sense of Life and Imagination

For little children, everything is magical, everything comes alive!
In Waldorf early childhood education, we do not 'TEACH' a child,
we however bring them to a world of warmth, love and beauty,
we NURTURE their sense of LIFE and IMAGINATION.

Nimble fingers make nimble minds.

The small child grasps the world through its fingers and in doing so, discovers the world. Manual dexterity and cognitive activity are closely connected and play co-supportive roles in child development. Studies of the post-natal development of the nervous system show a close connection between the development of fine motor skills of speech and later cognitive skills. The Waldorf curriculum facilitates conscious working with such interrelationships, with the aim of supporting the pupils in their growth towards well-balanced individuals. ----- Karl-Reinhard Kummer

In September 10 & 11, Shirley Bell McLeod will bring us through the journey of Waldorf Children Handcraft

from a series of wool craft, embroidery and others which will enhance the well-balanced development of young children.

Shirley is a professional craftsman who ran a craft centre in the US before being a kindergarten teacher in Australia

You are invited to take part in this journey.

. 愛:
